Adult Day Care of Calvert County asks community/businesses to

 “Be a 10” on 07/08/09

Prince Frederick, MD – The staff of Adult Day Care (ADC) of Calvert County is asking the community and area businesses to dig (not so deep) into their pockets and “Be a 10”  by July 8, 2009.

“Adult Day Care, like every non-profit these days, is really struggling to raise operating funds,” explains ADC Executive Director Ed Sullivan. “We stumbled on to the fact that at six seconds and five minutes after 4 a.m. on July 8, 2009, it will be 04, 05, 06 07/08/09 – and it just popped into our heads that we could use the uniqueness of this series to ask as many people and businesses as we can to “Be our 10” and donate $10.”

“We’re hoping to use this campaign to not only raise money, but also raise awareness about our program and services,” said Sullivan. “We are asking both the community and businesses to help, but if just the area businesses stepped up and met our modest request, it could result in the kind of windfall we need to sustain our vital and important services.”

Located in the Health Department on the campus of Calvert Memorial Hospital, ADC is a structured-therapeutic program for adults aged 55 or older who need some assistance during part of the day, or disabled adults 18 and older. The center provides door-to-door transportation for their clients, the majority of whom suffer from Alzheimers or dementia. These services are offered on a sliding scale so that care-takers have peace of mind knowing that loved ones are cared for during the day without the tremendous financial burden.

“So the bottom line is that we are asking our community residents and businesses to donate $10 by July 8th,” explains Sullivan. “This time and date won’t come around again for 1,000 years!”

All contributions to Adult Day Care of Calvert County are tax-deductible subject to IRS Ruling 501c3. Please send your donation to ADC,  P.O. Box 1659, Prince Frederick, MD 20678 – or call ADC for more information about this fundraising campaign or about our programs and services at (410) 535-0133.
