With all the expenses associated with caring for someone with special needs, families often suffer from a financial hardship, and often can not absorb any added expense of nursing care. The Adult Day Care (ADC) of Calvert County was founded in 1986 because the residents wanted affordable services that allowed their loved ones to remain independent in the community.

The Adult Day Care of Calvert County has made services affordable to over 200 families. With fees ranging from $6.00 a day to $75.00 a day, families can receive respite care much cheaper than nursing homes, home health agencies, and/or assisted living facilities, and the families have the added benefit of keeping their loved ones home with them at night.

ADC has been in business for over 17 years, and we are still as strong as ever. Our daily enrollment keeps increasing. This is because of our wonderful and caring staff, dedicated volunteers and Board members, and of course our families (current or past) that have recommended us. We have always and will continue to strive to provide the best care for you and your family; therefore, you may continue to see changes as we continue to increase our quality care.

One recent change, you may notice has to do with the handling of medical information. In April, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) came into effect. ADC has always handled our participant’s health information confidentially; however, you will continue to see many changes at our center as we continue to increase measures to maintain current and complete health information.

Finally, we could not complete our mission without the help of our many donors. This year we implemented a wish list of items, and you sure came through for us. Thanks to the support of many individuals, we have served over 40 adults this year. We also have new paint in the center, new border around the center, participant’s pictures, end tables, and new wall decorations.
